Audioengine D1 Drivers For Mac

May 19, 2014 Audioengine’s D1 digital-to-analog converter is the solution and marriage saver. This little USB-powered gem connects via a digital audio optical cable (not included) from a port on the rear of my TV to an identical port on the rear of the D1. The D1 worked on my GF's PC (Windows 10) and my laptop (Windows 7), when it was connected to those machines (using the USB cable that comes with the D1) it was immediately identified and in the 'playback' devices menu it was shown as the 'Audioengine D1'. On my PC however it refused to be recognized by my Windows 10.

Hello.
I'm new to this forum but I would like to ask for your opinion on some questions I have.Audioengine D1 Drivers For Mac
I just bought a DAC (Audioengine D1) because I wanted to give the 'best' sound quality to my headphones (Sennheiser Game One), but my audio knowledge is limited so here I am.
Although everything seems to be working fine I have some questions I can't find answer to on Google.
The FAQ from Audioengine says:

Why do I lose system volume control when using the D1 with my computer?

Optical and USB outputs are all digital, so both Windows and Mac OS X will disable the system volume control when they are in use. You can still control the volume directly in iTunes (or any media player), with the front panel volume control on the D1, or with the volume control on your audio system.

Which is true if I use the USB connection, but I'm currently using the Optical cable as the input (for convenience purposes) and I still have the 'normal' Windows volume control.
EDIT: It seems the USB input also provides system volume control.
Is this normal?
Another question I have is if WASAPI is worth using over DirectSound.
I've been reading about how to use it on Media Player Classic and music players, but it's a bit complicated and it seems to produce crackling sounds when I start and stop the music track.
Is it really worth using WASAPI from a sound quality perspective?

I appreciate any input.
Thanks.

The Audioengine D1 converter is undoubtedly the best dac under 200$. This model was designed to connect to a PC via a USB connector for use as an external high-quality sound card and is also equipped with an output for connecting headphones.

The Audioengine D1 has an optical digital input for connection to other audio sources, such as media players or BD/DVD players.

The device has a great electronic filing, which allows it to accurately play any genre. The USB interface is implemented on the TI1020B chip, and the AKM4396 chip with 24-bit/192 kHz parameters is used as the DAC.
